How can an outsider use the BI Library?
Individuals affiliated to corporate bodies like industries can use the Library as Corporate Members. Individuals (faculty, scientist, researcher of any institute) are also encouraged to make use of the Library; they may contact the Librarian for seeking outside reading card with one-year validity.
Who are authorized to use the BI Library?
All students, faculty members and staff (working and retired) of the Institute are authorized to use the Library. Student alumni, retired staff members, and visiting faculties also have the privilege to use the Library. However, for availing the borrowing facilities, users need to enroll themselves as Library members on fulfilling the requisite procedures.
Can a bound volume of journal be issued to a member?
Yes, bound volumes of journals (less than fifty years old) can be issued to the faculty members for 15 days.
Can a current (unbound) issue of journals be issued to a Library member?
Yes, the current (unbound) issue of journals is issued for overnight.
How can I recommend a book for purchase in the Library?
An authorized user can recommend a book for purchase by filling in a "Book recommendation Form" that can be obtained from the Librarian. The form should then be routed through your Head / Chairman of the Department for his recommendation.
How can I recommend a subscription to a new journal in the Library?
An authorized user can send your request for subscription to a new journal through your Head / Chairman of the Department. It may, however, be noted that the Library can subscribe to only a limited number of journals for a given Department from the funds allocated a budget of the Library.
Can I bring my personal books or other reading materials to the Library?
Yes. Users are allowed to bring their personal books or other reading materials to the Library with permission from the Librarian.
Can I bring my personal materials to the library?
Yes; Laptop, bound Xeroxed documents are allowed inside the library during library hours. Personal books must be registered and duly stamped at the checkpoint while entering into the library.
How OPAC search helps me to locate the documents?
OPAC is the On-line Public Access Catalogue and you can search the documents available in the library by putting any of the identity key words or numbers known for the documents in the search box in the computer. It shows you the bibliographical details of the documents along with its Call Number and Accession Number to locate that in the library.
Does the library have Wi-Fi?
Yes, wireless access is available in the Library. For information on connecting to the WIFI service, contact the Librarian
Can I print/photocopying the library?
Yes. There are photocopiers which make both black-and-white and color copies on the Library. But you should pay for this.
What are online resources available?
Our Library services also provide a list of e-journals and databases that all have access to.
What should I do if the book I borrowed got lost?
If a user loses a borrowed library book, then he/she has to make an application immediately to the in – charge of Circulation Section to get relief from paying the delay fine from the date of application and to take the following actions whichever is permissible as per library rules:
a) Replace the lost book by a new book as per the library regulation; or
b) Pay the current price of the lost book;
Can I issue the same books soon after its returning?
No, you can’t issue the same books in your library account soon after its returning.
Can the dissertations, theses be issued?
Non – Book materials are generally not issued to any member. They are referred to the Non – Book section only.
