RelatedIntegrated Ph.D. in Physical Sciences

Bose Institute has an established Ph.D. programme in physical sciences, life sciences and interdisciplinary sciences. The institute is a national pioneer in research on astroparticle physics and cosmic rays, foundations of quantum physics and interdisciplinary physics. Many of our alumni have become reputed experts in their fields. The institute also runs a vibrant integrated M.Sc. - Ph.D. programme.

Current research takes place in biophysics, complex systems and networks, environmental sciences, condensed matter physics, materials science, high energy physics, astroparticle physics, interdisciplinary physics, quantum physics, quantum information, nuclear physics and radiation physics.

Details about research in physical sciences can be found on the individual faculty pages in the institutional research programmes on (i) basic and applied problems in physical and environmental sciences, and, (ii) complex systems

Students are admitted annually for integrated Ph.D. in physical sciences through an interview conducted by the Institute. Applicants should have qualified JEST in which Bose Institute is one of the participating institutions. Applicants should have a minimum CGPA of 6 on a 10 point scale or 60% marks in overall percentage as well as in the major subject or percentage equivalent converted from CGPI/CPI in B. Sc. (Physics / Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tech.

Bose Institute will be accepting applications for the Integrated MSc-PhD program, scheduled to begin in August 2019. Selection will be based on an interview to be conducted at Bose Institute in 2019. To apply for the Integrated MSc-PhD program, the applicant must first qualify either the JGEEBILS exam scheduled to be held on December 09, 2018 (for MSc-PhD in Life Sciences) or the JEST examination scheduled to be held on 17 February, 2019 (for MSc-PhD in Physical Sciences) examination. Before the results of the JGEEBILS / JEST exam are declared, we will intimate details of the application procedure at our website, including deadlines.
